Melbourne Crown Casino’s “2014 Aussie Millions Poker Championship” kicked off last January 23, 2014, starting with the Day1a Opening Event for AU$1,100 No-Limit Hold’Em. Three hundred seventeen (317) entrants warmed-up the first day of competition, as notable poker players battled it out at the tables to best all 13 levels.
Day1a ended with only 34 survivors, led by Frenchman Alexandre Annovazzi, who had the biggest stack of chips at 225,000. Tail ender Oliver Gill finished with only 38,300 chips but his survival was remarkable, since he was already down to 300 and managed to recover before the Day1a opening event winded up.
Players eliminated in Day1a rejoined the tournament via the Day 1b Repechage held on Friday, January 24, 2014, while players who did not make it in Day1a and Day1b continued to give their best shot by rejoining via the Re-Repechage on Saturday, January 25. Players who survived the Opening Day series qualify for the AU$$1,100 No Limit Hold’Em/Pot Limit Omaha Rotation for the Day 2 Event, scheduled at 2:15 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
The entire “2014 Aussie Millions Poker Championship” tournament will run with a series of 20 poker events, including the Main Event slated to start on February 01 and culminate on February 10, 2014. Buy-ins for a wide-ranging line up of popular poker variations, range between AU$1,100 to AU$250, 000, in which 19 event winners will each receive an “Aussie Millions Championship Ring”.
Still, the ultimate goal is to win the coveted first prize estimated at AU$1.6 million and to become the proud wearer of the “2014 Aussie Million Poker Championship Bracelet.”
