Warrnambool

Located on the Princes Highway and Great Ocean Road, this city has a population of nearly 30,000 residents. As a port city, it has several lighthouses, and foreshores that draw thousands of tourists annually. While in the south western section of the country of Australia, visitors can make their way to Melbourne to the east or Perth to the north. Tourism is a booming part of the economy, however, agriculture including dairy and milk farms garner most of the industry. Health, retail, clothing manufacturing and other markets also have a presence in the economy.

There are several local attractions for tourist to engage in such as surfing off the many beaches along Great Ocean Road. The Warrnambool Harbor sees a variety of boating activity including those heading out for whale watching tours. More indigenous sea life such as the Australian fur seal, common dolphins, albatross, and penguins dart the shoreline at different periods throughout the year. The Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum dating back to the mid 1800s has a myriad of lighthouses and heritage museums including the Lady Bay Lighthouse.
