William Hill, the UK corporate bookmaker that acquired the online bookmaking agency of Tom Waterhouse, has announced that the latter is now the new Chief Executive Officer of the William Hill Australia Division. Mr. Waterhouse, whose service was retained by the UK bookmaker after the latter acquired his “tomwasterhouse.com” bookmaking agency, will be taking charge of WH's Australia-based betting operations, namely “Sportingbet”, “Centrebet” and “tomwaterhouse.com”.
The recent appointment elevates Mr. Waterhouse's position at WH Australia from being the managing director of “tomwaterhouse.com” under former Australia CEO Michael Sullivan. However, Mr. Sullivan vacated the executive position earlier this year, which led to the temporary appointment of in-house WH senior executive James Henderson as Sullivan's replacement.
In announcing Waterhouse's takeover as the new and official CEO of WH Australia, Mr. Henderson commented that the well-rounded fourth generation Australian bookmaker is “a passionate, innovative, & digitally savvy industry expert who shares our passion for delivering a superior product range & user experience to our customers in a responsible way.”
Obviously delighted by his new designation, Tom Waterhouse voiced his enthusiasm by saying, “I am proud to have the chance to lead this business into the next level of growth & to be working with some of the best betting talent in Australia to build an attractive & competitive customer offer.”
Following the announcement of Mr. Waterhouse's appointment, UK William Hill released a statement that the AU$70 million earn-out deal included in the “tomwaterhouse.com” acquisition agreement has reached an early settlement; in fact, ahead of schedule as the payout due to Mr. Waterhouse was based on the incremental profit of “tomwaterhouse.com” up to 2015.
